Arriving October 2010, Engine 29-2
The dynamics of our Fire District have changed significantly and in order to provide the communities that we serve and our firefighters with the most up to date equipment available we are replacing our current tanker with a state of the art CAFS equipped Fire Engine. The new engine will be built by W.S. Darley and equipped with Darley's AutoCAFS system which will enable our firefighters to utilize either Class-A foam or Class-A Compressed Air Foam in addition to water to extinguish fires. Studies have proven Class A foam to be 2 times more effective than plain water as an extinguishing agent and the utilization of Compressed Air Foam Systems or CAFS increases the effectiveness to 4 times that of plain water. CAFS is so effective as a firefighting tool that in the state of Texas ISO ratings are reduced by 1.5 points for communities with CAFS equipped Fire Departments. Currently the ISO is being petitioned to apply these ratings reductions nationally. Please take some time to learn what CAFS is and how it works. Understanding CAFS and Class A Foam "Seeing Is Believing"
Darley "The Firetruck" AutoCAFS Demo We are currently in need of volunteers and have openings in all areas including FireFighters, 1st Responders & EMTs, Rescue Technicians and Fire Police. There is also a need for Social Members to assist with our many fundraising activities.
